PearPassSearch
This section provides technical details about how search functions within PearPass, including scope behavior, indexed fields, and security exclusions.
Search Scope
Search operates within the context of your current folder selection.
| Folder Selection | Search Scope |

| All | All items across the vault. |
| Specific folder | Items within that folder only. |
When an item type filter is active (e.g., Logins, Credit Cards), the search applies only to items of that type within the current folder.
Match Behavior
- Search is case-insensitive.
- Matching is substring-based—characters can appear anywhere in the field, not only at the start.
- Only items matching the search criteria are displayed in the results.

- Note content
Credit Cards

- Name on card

Identities

Notes

Sensitive fields such as passwords, card numbers, PINs, recovery phrases, and attached file names are not searchable.
